The inaugural Steel City Surf Classic is not just a surf event; it is a testament to the power of community support and gratitude. This event would not have been possible without the collaboration between Ty Delaney's family, friends, and the Northern Suburbs community.

In late 2020, tragedy struck when Ty Delaney passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident. The loss was devastating for all who knew him. To honor his memory we decided to organizing an event that would unite people and celebrate his passion for his friends and surfing.

The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming. From local businesses providing sponsorships to volunteers offering their time and expertise, everyone has come together to make this event a reality.

The Steel City Surf Classic serves as a reminder that even in times of sorrow, communities can unite and create something beautiful. It is a celebration of Ty Delaney's life and an opportunity for everyone involved to come together in gratitude for the love and support they have received.

To all those who have contributed their time, resources, or simply offered words of encouragement – thank you. Your generosity has made this event possible, and your presence will make it truly special.
